2 CAR § 198-101. Testing and branding.
(a)(1) Female cattle over twelve (12) months of age that are not vaccinated for brucellosis and are sold through a livestock market or by one (1) person to another, must be:
(A) Tested negative for brucellosis; and
(B) Permanently identified with a hot brand containing the letters "NV" on the left hip prior to being sold.
(2) The brand will be at least three inches by three inches (3" x 3") in size.
(b) Female cattle from a certified brucellosis free herd will be exempt from testing and branding provisions if documentation is provided indicating the herd status.
(c) Once these females are comingled with noncertified cattle this status is lost.
(d) Unvaccinated (NV) cattle shall be eligible to move both intrastate and interstate (if they meet the receiving state's requirements).
(e) The Arkansas Board of Animal Health shall review the provisions of this part periodically for possible amendment or suspension.
